"Survival Time"
The most interesting case of cannibalism would have to be the Jamestown survival cannibalism. I don't know about you but when I think of the Jamestown settlers I think of a couple of God-fearing lovely people who were brought through hard times by God. New evidence suggests something very different, and to be honest completely unthinkable. Archaeologists revealed their analysis of 17th century skeletal remains suggesting that the settlers participated in cannibalism. The remains of a 14-year old girl, whom researches are calling Jane, show markings that are associated with butchering. Her cranium cracked open with markings on the inside. Jane's skull was then completely removed from the rest of the body. The 14-year old young girl tragically met an awful fate.

Western Expansion started in the 1800's, it marked the beginning of a new America. The journey west was known to be treacherous adventure but no one in the Donner party of 1846 expected it to push them to the point of doing anything to survive. A "shortcut" cost the Donner party 5 months of pain and hardships. this is what pushed them to cannibalism just to live. When the rescue party found them only 45 out of the 89 emigrants survived those fatal months.

1972 Andes flight Disaster
Can you imagine Eating your friends and loved ones to survive 72 days in the bitter and cold? 16 survivors out of the 45 teammates of a rugby team can. A plane crashes into the Andes Mountain range in between Chile and Argentina. Many of the 25 individuals who actually survived the plane crash watched as their loved ones die before dying themselves. The survivors had to eat the remains of their fallen friends.
